GreatStop is actively being built

What's new at GreatStop

GreatStop is still in beta, and it is improving quickly as we test more routes and hear from real EV travelers. Here are the major milestones so far, grouped by month rather than every small release.

October 2026

Broader coverage, easier sharing, and better real-world feedback.

Started a limited Dynamic Charger Discovery pilot that can search uncovered portions of a route for additional compatible fast chargers, helping more EV travelers find safe charging options beyond our established corridors, with newly discovered stops clearly labeled as preliminary.

Expanded verified road-trip coverage west through Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, including I-10 to Houston, I-20 to Dallas-Fort Worth and I-40 to Amarillo.

Added Share a Trip so travelers can send a planned route and planner settings to another EV driver or travel partner.

Improved the homepage so travelers can get to the trip planner faster, with coverage details moved after the primary planning action.

Improved outside-coverage messaging so unsupported routes are identified clearly instead of looking like battery or charger failures.

Added Orlando holiday trip-planning support for more origin markets, including Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.

Started collecting more detailed real-world charging feedback, including how many chargers appeared to be working, as a foundation for future Charging Confidence insights.

Published and expanded practical EV road-trip guides focused on specific routes, interstate corridors and better charging-stop choices.

Late September 2026

GreatStop grew from an early corridor test into a connected regional beta.

Expanded verified corridor coverage across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and into the Northeast, including major portions of I-40, I-26, I-85, I-75, I-95, I-81, I-64, I-66, I-77 and I-4.

Added partial-coverage handling so GreatStop can help on the supported portion of a longer trip and clearly identify uncovered gaps.

Improved vehicle-aware charging compatibility and charging-speed estimates for a growing range of EV models.

Added Find me a GreatStop soon for travelers already on the road who want the best upcoming stop rather than a full trip plan.

Added Saved GreatStops, a device-based list of saved stops for quick access while traveling.

Began collecting anonymous traveler stop ratings, comments and optional photos to improve GreatStop with real-world experience.

September 2026

The GreatStop beta took shape around one simple idea: finding a charger is not the same as finding a good place to stop.

Launched the early GreatStop beta with verified corridor-based EV trip planning.

Built the GreatStop Score around more than charging alone, including route detour, charging speed, restrooms, food, coffee and nearby amenities.

Added vehicle, starting battery and reserve-aware planning so recommendations reflect the EV actually making the trip.

Began testing real interstate corridors and improving stop data using Google Places and Google Routes.

Started inviting EV owners and road-trip travelers to test GreatStop and help decide where coverage should expand next.

What comes next?

Coverage, charger reliability insights and traveler-to-traveler sharing will keep improving as more people use GreatStop. Real-world feedback helps decide what gets built next.
