Best EV Charging Stops from New York to Orlando

By GreatStop Team · Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026

Planning an electric vehicle road trip from New York to Orlando? Your route takes you through some of the busiest highways on the East Coast before continuing south toward Florida's theme parks, resorts and vacation destinations.

Along the way, you'll encounter Tesla Superchargers, CCS fast-charging stations, highway travel centers and retail charging locations.

But finding electricity isn't the only challenge.

Where should you charge so you can also find food, use the restroom and get back on the highway without unnecessary delays?

That's what GreatStop helps you figure out.

Plan your New York to Orlando EV trip with GreatStop.

A Typical New York to Orlando EV Route

A common route follows the New Jersey Turnpike and I-95 south through:

  • New Jersey and the Philadelphia area
  • Maryland and the Baltimore–Washington corridor
  • Virginia, including the Richmond area
  • North Carolina and South Carolina
  • Georgia
  • Florida, connecting toward Orlando

The precise route depends on your starting point, traffic, destination and navigation preferences.

GreatStop's supported corridor network connects the New York area with Florida, allowing the planner to evaluate charging stops along the trip.

The number and location of recommended stops depend on your EV, starting battery level, driving conditions and preferred battery reserve.

Rather than prescribing one charging itinerary for everyone, GreatStop helps compare stops that fit your particular journey.

Three EV Charging Stops Worth Considering

These three examples come from GreatStop's October 2026 charging dataset.

They illustrate different opportunities along the drive—not a recommended three-stop itinerary. A New York-to-Orlando journey will generally require additional charging decisions based on the vehicle and its actual energy needs.

All charger specifications, detour estimates and nearby-business information should be confirmed before travel. Walking times refer to measured walking routes where available; straight-line distances are identified separately. Operating hours were not confirmed for these locations in the current dataset, so travelers should verify hours before depending on any stop for nighttime charging or amenities.

1. Tesla Supercharger — Bellmawr, New Jersey

12 S Black Horse Pike, Bellmawr, NJ 08031

The Philadelphia area is one of the early decision points for travelers heading south from New York.

Bellmawr is an interesting charging location because it combines highway convenience with several nearby food options.

Charging information

  • Eight Tesla-listed, eight NACS-listed and eight CCS-listed connectors in the dataset, with advertised charging power up to 325 kW.
  • Approximately 1.4 minutes of measured highway detour in GreatStop's corridor data.
  • Restroom availability is indicated in the charging-location record.

Food and amenities

The nearby Royal Farms convenience store is approximately 32 meters away in straight-line distance, with a measured walking route of about 24 seconds, and restroom access is indicated there.

Additional nearby businesses include Vero Pizzeria, Beck's Bagels, Yummy Yummy and Fruvia Café.

For example, Vero Pizzeria is approximately 64 meters away in straight-line distance, with a measured walking route of just over two minutes.

Why consider this stop?

It illustrates what GreatStop looks for: compatible charging, a relatively short highway detour and food or restroom options close to the charger.

What to consider: The dataset includes CCS connector information, but that does not automatically guarantee every non-Tesla vehicle can charge at this Tesla-operated location. Check Tesla's current vehicle and site eligibility before relying on it.

Operating hours were not confirmed in the current dataset, so check current hours before relying on a late-night stop.

2. Tesla Supercharger — Aberdeen, Maryland

I-95, Aberdeen, MD 21001

Farther south, Aberdeen provides a different kind of stop: charging near familiar highway food and convenience options.

Charging information

  • Eight Tesla-listed connectors, with advertised charging power up to 150 kW.
  • Approximately 2.4 minutes of measured highway detour in GreatStop's corridor data.
  • Listed hours were not confirmed in the current dataset.
  • Restroom access indicated in the charging-location record.

Food and amenities

GreatStop's dataset identifies several nearby businesses:

  • Sunoco
  • Dunkin'
  • Nathan's Famous
  • Wendy's
  • Jerry's Subs and Pizza
  • Phillips Seafood

The Sunoco location is approximately 34 meters away in straight-line distance, with a measured walking route of about 1 minute and 25 seconds.

Restroom availability is indicated for both Sunoco and Dunkin' in the dataset. Operating hours for these businesses were not confirmed in the current dataset, so verify hours before planning a late-night visit.

Why consider this stop?

This type of location may appeal to travelers who want a relatively straightforward charging break near food, coffee and restrooms.

What to consider: The record identifies Tesla charging equipment rated up to 150 kW. It may not suit drivers looking for higher-powered charging, and access for non-Tesla vehicles should not be assumed.

A lower advertised power rating doesn't automatically mean a poor stop. What matters is the charging performance your vehicle can achieve, how much energy you need and the convenience of the location.

3. Tesla Supercharger at Buc-ee's — Florence, South Carolina

3390 N Williston Rd, Florence, SC 29506

For travelers heading south through the Carolinas, the Florence area offers an opportunity to combine charging with a more substantial break.

This charging location is associated with a Buc-ee's travel center, making it particularly relevant to GreatStop's emphasis on amenities.

Charging information

  • Sixteen Tesla-listed and sixteen NACS-listed connectors, plus twelve CCS-listed connectors, in the dataset, with advertised charging power up to 250 kW.
  • Approximately 5.4 minutes of measured highway detour in GreatStop's corridor data.
  • Operating hours were not confirmed in the current dataset.

Food and amenities

The nearby Buc-ee's offers food, convenience items and restrooms.

GreatStop's dataset identifies a measured walking route of approximately two to three minutes between the charger and the travel center.

Restroom availability is indicated for the Buc-ee's in the dataset. Its operating hours were not confirmed, so verify current hours before relying on it overnight.

Why consider this stop?

It's an example of a charging location where travelers may be able to accomplish several things during one break: charge the vehicle, find food, visit the restroom and purchase supplies.

What to consider: Because this is a Tesla Supercharger location with multiple connector categories in the underlying data, confirm which connectors and charging arrangements are actually available to your specific vehicle.

The presence of a Buc-ee's does not establish current charger availability, restroom cleanliness or how crowded the location will be when you arrive.

Why Your First Charging Stop Matters

When leaving New York, your first stop depends on more than the distance to the nearest charger.

Consider two drivers leaving the same location.

One starts with 85% battery. Another starts with 55%.

Their most useful first charging stops may be very different.

Weather, highway speed, traffic, vehicle efficiency and desired reserve also influence the decision.

A strong trip planner should evaluate the route as a whole instead of assuming every driver begins at 100% battery.

GreatStop uses your selected vehicle and starting charge to help identify charging opportunities.

New Jersey, Philadelphia and Baltimore: Avoiding Unnecessary Detours

The Northeast offers numerous charging options, but urban and suburban locations can introduce complications.

A charging station might be geographically close to I-95 yet require several turns, traffic lights or a longer return trip to the highway.

For a long-distance driver, those minutes add up.

GreatStop considers measured highway detours where the underlying data supports them.

When measurements conflict or cannot be verified, a precise detour estimate should not be treated as reliable.

A nearby restaurant also isn't necessarily a convenient walk. The actual pedestrian route may be significantly longer than the straight-line distance shown on a map.

Virginia and the Carolinas: Combine Charging with a Real Break

As the drive continues through Virginia and the Carolinas, travelers may want to coordinate charging with lunch, dinner or a longer rest stop.

A location with a convenient restroom and several dining choices can help avoid making an additional stop shortly afterward.

Travel centers can be useful, but charging stations at retail centers or smaller locations may also offer attractive options.

The key questions are practical:

  • Does the charger work with your vehicle?
  • Is the stop reasonably accessible from your route?
  • Are food and restrooms available when you plan to arrive?
  • Can you comfortably walk to the amenities?
  • Does stopping here leave you with sufficient battery reserve for the next leg?

GreatStop evaluates these considerations together where verified data is available.

Georgia and Florida: Plan for Your Actual Orlando Destination

Once you reach Georgia and Florida, your final destination becomes increasingly important.

Orlando is more than one location.

Your trip could end at a hotel near Universal Orlando, a Disney resort, a campground, a vacation rental or somewhere else in Central Florida.

Your final charging decision may differ depending on whether charging is available at your destination.

GreatStop can plan toward the destination you enter rather than assuming every Orlando-bound driver needs the same final stop.

For a more detailed view of potential stops along the southern portion of the trip, visit our I-95 Southeast guide.

CCS, NACS and Tesla Supercharger Access

Connector compatibility is especially important on a long-distance EV road trip.

Some fast chargers use CCS connectors, while others use the Tesla-style NACS connector. Certain vehicles may require a supported adapter.

But a physical connector match does not guarantee access.

For example, a non-Tesla vehicle may need to meet specific Supercharger eligibility requirements.

Charging capabilities also vary significantly by vehicle. A charger advertised at 325 kW does not mean every EV can charge at 325 kW.

Before departure, confirm charger access through the appropriate provider and make sure the charging stop fits your vehicle's specifications.

Holiday Travel: More Reasons to Plan Ahead

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's can bring heavier highway traffic, busy travel centers and changing weather conditions.

Northern portions of the route may experience winter temperatures, which can affect energy consumption and charging behavior.

A useful plan should leave room for flexibility.

Rather than depending on a single charging location regardless of conditions, review the alternatives your vehicle can reach while maintaining an appropriate battery reserve.

For overnight travel, check the operating hours of both the chargers and the nearby businesses before you depart. Operating hours were not confirmed for many locations in the current dataset, so a late-night arrival should not assume that food or restrooms will be open.
