Best EV Charging Stops on I-75: Detroit to Florida
By GreatStop Team · Oct 11, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Driving an electric vehicle along I-75 from Detroit to Florida involves more than finding the next available fast charger.
The route passes through Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. Along the way, drivers encounter everything from interstate travel centers to urban charging hubs and shopping centers.
The challenge isn't always finding a place to charge. It's choosing a place where charging fits comfortably into your road trip.
Where can you charge, grab a meal, use the restroom and get back on I-75 without wasting time?
That's the question GreatStop is designed to help answer.
What Makes a Great I-75 Charging Stop?
A useful charging stop balances several factors:
- Fast charging that works with your EV
- A reasonable detour from the interstate
- Food, coffee or other useful amenities nearby
- Convenient restroom access
- Reasonable walking distances
- Enough charging options to fit your travel plans
The highest-powered charger isn't necessarily the most convenient stop.
A charging station may advertise 350 kW but require a lengthy drive through city traffic. Another station might offer somewhat lower charging power while placing food and restrooms just steps away.
Your vehicle's actual charging rate, the highway detour, and what you need during the stop all matter.
Three I-75 EV Charging Stops Worth Considering
Here are three locations from GreatStop's October 2026 dataset snapshots that illustrate different types of road-trip stops.
These are examples, not a fixed itinerary. Actual recommendations depend on your vehicle, connector access, starting battery level and route. Walking times are measured walking routes rather than straight-line distances, charger details and nearby amenities can change, and advertised power is the maximum a site can deliver rather than a rate every vehicle will receive, so confirm current conditions before traveling.
1. Electrify America — West Chester Township, Ohio
9500 Ikea Way, West Chester Township, OH 45069
Located along the Cincinnati–Dayton portion of I-75, this Electrify America station can suit drivers pairing charging with a store-and-restaurant break.
Charging information
- Six CCS connectors with advertised power up to 350 kW
- Approximately eight minutes of measured highway detour in GreatStop's corridor data
- Listed as accessible 24 hours
Food and amenities
The one dining option confirmed in GreatStop's data is the IKEA Restaurant, about 163 meters away with a measured walking route of about 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
The same record shows how misleading distance can be: a store roughly 290 meters away has a measured walking route of nearly 14 minutes.
The surrounding shopping district likely offers more choices, but GreatStop's amenity data for this location is thinner than at our other featured stops, a reminder that "near a shopping district" and "verified nearby amenities" aren't the same thing.
Why consider this stop?
It pairs CCS charging with a large-store and restaurant stop, useful for a longer meal break rather than a quick charge.
What to consider: the measured highway detour is relatively long, restroom access at the charger isn't confirmed in the dataset (and the record doesn't indicate a public restroom at the IKEA Restaurant either), and only one dining option is verified. Confirm current amenities locally.
2. Tesla Supercharger — Atlantic Station, Atlanta, Georgia
1380 Atlantic Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30363
Atlanta presents a different challenge. There may be numerous charging options, but congestion, parking and access roads can make some locations less convenient than they appear.
The Atlantic Station Supercharger illustrates the appeal of combining charging with dining and shopping.
Charging information
- Thirty Tesla-listed stalls in GreatStop's record
- Advertised power ratings ranging from 150 to 250 kW
- Approximately nine minutes of measured highway detour
- Listed as accessible 24 hours
Food and amenities
Nearby options in GreatStop's enriched data include Yard House, Angry Crab Shack, Atlantic Grill, illy Coffee and California Pizza Kitchen.
Several have very short measured walking routes from the charger. For example, Yard House is listed approximately 12 meters away, with a measured walking time of about 24 seconds.
Why consider this stop?
For drivers who want a sit-down meal, coffee or a break in a mixed-use shopping area, Atlantic Station offers a different experience from a typical highway charging stop.
What to consider: This is not necessarily the fastest option for someone trying to minimize overall travel time. Atlanta traffic and the highway detour matter. The record lists Tesla charging equipment; non-Tesla drivers should not assume access without checking vehicle and Supercharger eligibility.
3. IONNA — Forest Park, Georgia
5043 Frontage Rd, Forest Park, GA 30297
South of Atlanta, the Forest Park IONNA charging location provides an example of high-powered charging with a shorter measured interstate detour.
Charging information
- Six CCS-listed and two NACS-listed connectors in GreatStop's record
- Advertised charging power up to 400 kW
- Approximately 3.5 minutes of measured highway detour
- Restroom access indicated in the charging record
- Listed as accessible 24 hours
Food and amenities
GreatStop identifies Mr. Taco and nearby convenience-store options, including a Chevron location.
Mr. Taco is approximately 70 meters away in straight-line distance, with a measured walking route of just under three minutes.
Why consider this stop?
It offers a potentially attractive combination of high-powered charging, relatively direct interstate access and practical nearby amenities.
What to consider: Dining options are more limited than at Atlantic Station. Confirm connector compatibility and network access before traveling.
Planning Your Route Through Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee
The three examples above show how different charging locations serve different traveler needs.
But an I-75 trip from Detroit to Florida also requires decisions through Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Your first stop depends on how much charge you have when leaving home. A driver departing Detroit with an 80% battery may need a different plan than someone starting at 50%.
As you approach Cincinnati, Lexington, Knoxville and Chattanooga, the best decision depends on the next part of your trip, not just the nearest charger.
Sometimes charging earlier creates a more comfortable reserve. Other times, continuing to a better-equipped location can make sense.
GreatStop considers your selected EV, starting battery level and charging compatibility when recommending stops along supported routes.
CCS, NACS and Tesla Supercharger Compatibility
Connector compatibility remains important when planning a long interstate drive.
Some charging locations offer CCS connectors, some use Tesla-style NACS connectors, and some Tesla Superchargers are accessible only to eligible vehicles.
A non-Tesla EV equipped with a NACS port or adapter isn't automatically authorized to charge at every Tesla Supercharger.
Likewise, Tesla vehicles may be able to use CCS charging stations with an appropriate supported adapter.
Before relying on a location, check your vehicle's charging capabilities and the network's current access requirements.
GreatStop helps narrow the charging options, but final compatibility and operating status should be confirmed with the charging provider.
Food and Restrooms: Why Walking Distance Matters
One of the easiest ways to make an EV road trip more comfortable is to combine charging with a break you already need.
That might mean:
- Coffee and breakfast during a morning charge
- A restaurant stop around lunchtime
- Restrooms and snacks during an afternoon break
- A longer meal while charging later in the day
But "food nearby" doesn't always mean convenient food.
A restaurant may be only a few hundred feet from a charger yet require crossing a busy road or taking a long route around a shopping center.
GreatStop uses measured walking routes where available and evaluates nearby amenities alongside charging characteristics.
Amenity information isn't equally complete at every charging station, and published business hours or restroom information may change.
What About I-75 Charging Stops in Florida?
Once you reach Florida, the right charging strategy depends heavily on your destination.
A trip toward Tampa may continue south on I-75, while Orlando-bound travelers may use different connections through central Florida. Drivers heading to Southwest Florida or Miami will face different charging decisions.
Instead of following a fixed list of stops, use the GreatStop planner to evaluate locations along your actual route.
